Liverpool fans are singing it, the stats confirm it, and the rest of the Premier League is running out of answers,Liverpool are going to win the league.

In a season-defining 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points over Arsenal, effectively shutting the door on any last-minute drama. With only 11 matches left, it’s becoming less a question of “if” and more a question of “when” the Premier League trophy will return to Anfield.

A Statement Win at the Etihad

Liverpool’s ruthless efficiency was on full display against City, as Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with his 30th goal of the season, before setting up Dominik Szoboszlai to double the lead before halftime. The result, combined with Arsenal’s loss to West Ham, has made Liverpool’s march to the title look all but inevitable.

City’s grip on the Premier League has finally loosened. A team that has dominated English football for years is now looking like a shadow of its former self, while Liverpool’s relentless form under new head coach Arne Slot continues to impress.

    Slot’s Tactical Masterclass

While Liverpool’s playing style under Jurgen Klopp was defined by relentless attacking football, Slot has added another layer of efficiency to their game. The high-intensity pressing remains, but the game management and defensive structure have been fine-tuned, making Liverpool nearly impossible to break down.

Against City, Liverpool had only 33.9% possession, their lowest in a Premier League victory since 2003-04,but still managed to control the game and neutralize City’s attack with ease. Guardiola’s men looked lost for ideas, while Liverpool executed their game plan to perfection.

    Salah’s Historic Season

At the heart of it all is Mohamed Salah, who continues to make history. With 30 goals and 21 assists this season, he has now contributed to 51 goals before the end of February. That’s a level of dominance we haven’t seen since the likes of Thierry Henry in his prime.

Salah has now recorded five separate 30+ goal seasons for Liverpool, putting him alongside club legends Roger Hunt and Ian Rush. His impact goes beyond goals, his leadership, creativity, and ability to step up in big moments have made him the face of this Liverpool team.

    The End of the Race?

While Arsenal technically have a game in hand, it’s hard to see them overturning an 11-point gap against a Liverpool side that has lost just once all season.

Pep Guardiola refused to publicly concede the title to Liverpool, but his actions spoke louder than words. After the final whistle, he made a point of shaking hands with every Liverpool player and congratulating Slot, almost like he knew it was over.

Even former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart admitted that Arsenal have no chance of catching Liverpool. “They can win every game from here, but I still don’t think it will be enough,” he told BBC Sport.

    The Road to the Title

Liverpool’s final run-in includes seven games at Anfield, a fortress where they have been nearly unstoppable this season. Arsenal, on the other hand, have shown signs of crumbling under pressure, struggling in crucial moments when it matters most.

Unless something miraculous happens, it’s time to start planning the open-top bus parade. The Premier League trophy is heading back to Anfield.
