How Champion’s Latest Collaboration With HoMie And Smiley Is Pioneering Change Within The Streetwear Community

Of all the streetwear collaborations, few are pushing boundaries like Champion’s latest collab.

We hear about streetwear collaborations all the time. Most collabs centre around rare drops, mixing popular logos and featuring signature brand designs, making them must-have items. While streetwear brands seek to temporarily join forces with other brands on clothing lines and sneaker drops, very few embrace the same creativity and purpose featured in Champion’s latest project.

Champion and Australian social enterprise HoMie teamed up with counter-culture icon Smiley, to encourage a kindness revolution. Launching a first-of-its-kind, purpose-led collaboration. The three entities curated a limited-edition range, to help combat youth homelessness and hardship. A grass-routes campaign focused on impacting the lives of those who fight against society’s odds every day to realise their passion and turn it into a career. Perhaps this is one element of Champion’s latest resurgence. For years streetwear brands have dominated the collaboration process. While many have seen much commercial success, very few have planned and executed a project aimed at placing disadvantaged youths in a position where the clothes on their back are providing more than eye-catching pieces that will resell for a high margin.

The ‘Start with A Smile’ collection, created in the context of Smiley’s ‘Take The Time To Smile’ slogan encourages conversation, shares kindness and makes others smile. The line launched at a one-night-only event with the limited-edition range landing in Champion stores both nationally and online as well as in HoMie’s flagship store on Brunswick Street in Melbourne, on May 26.

“A smile. It’s as simple as that to make someone’s day. It’s an impactful message we’re so proud to share
through our latest collab with our mates at HoMie and global icon, Smiley.”
Champion AUS NZ Marketing Manager Christie Madsen.

The clothing line that is designed in conjunction with each brand’s creative team, features uniquely merged
logos, signifying the union between them. The logos signify and highlight a shared vision of a brighter future, the collection serves as a reminder that kindness is cool, and it starts with a smile. It is important to note, HoMie utilises 100% of its profits to help in achieving its mission to provide clothing, training and job opportunities to young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

“We are incredibly excited by this next iteration of our ongoing relationship with Champion. To be
represented alongside two iconic global brands is such a proud moment for us as it certainly elevates our own to a whole new level”
HoMie CEO and Co-Founder Nick Pearce.

By purchasing from this limited-edition Champion x HoMie x Smiley collab, you are directly helping this important cause. The range is now available via the Homie and Champion websites. It’s also available at HoMie’s flagship store and Champion stores nationally.
